Avira improves security on smartphones

Avira AntiVir Mobile offers an optimized virus scanner on smartphones and supports the TouchFlo interface of HTC devices
Tettnang, 26 October 2009 – Avira has launched AntiVir Mobile, the latest version of its malware prevention solution for mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs. This software for mobile devices now also supports the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system and offers even better scanning technology. Black- and whitelisting functions can be used to filter out unwanted SMS messages.
Avira AntiVir Mobile provides effective protection for data on smartphones, PDAs and pocket PCs against manipulation, destruction and theft. As well as the usual high detection rates, the latest version of the software also features a massive increase in virus scanning speed. The security solution was equipped with file caching technology for this purpose. This makes a note of already checked files and skips them the next time a virus search is run. However, as soon as a file is opened again with write privileges, AntiVir Mobile detects the change and checks the file for infections once again.
The system informs users of all malware found and enables affected files to be deleted immediately. The AntiVir Malware Detection Engine only requires a very small amount of RAM, making it one of the leanest and most powerful scan engines on the market. Thus AntiVir Mobile guarantees top performance that will not impair the capacity or battery life of mobile devices.
Individual configurations allow options such as scan-on-sync or real-time protection to be tailored to your individual needs. The depth of the scan and thus the scope of checking can also be defined on an individual basis. If required, AntiVir Mobile can also scan the ROM and memory card automatically when inserted. The integrated SMS protection feature checks incoming messages, while the black- and whitelisting option protects you from nuisance text messages. Updates to the detection patterns are delivered in small data packets that can be loaded automatically when synching via WLAN or, thanks to their extremely small size, via GPRS. AntiVir Mobile is compatible with HTC devices with the TouchFlo interface and supports operating systems from Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6.5.
