First, make sure the configuration option Download and install product updates automatically (default setting) is active:

If you use one of the following products, and the updates option is active, the program informs you in a slide-up, as soon as version 9 is available:
- AntiVir Premium
- Avira Premium Security Suite
- Avira AntiVir Professional (up to 20 Clients or without Avira SMC)
In case of Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus, the migration will take place later. You can download and install version 9 directly from our download pages. More details on www.free-av.com
For the above mentioned products, you can upgrade automatically. The migration process takes over the uninstall, restarts the computer and then installs the new version. You only have to make some configuration settings.

A program slide-up will inform you about the release of version 9, if you have Avira AntiVir in a multi-user installation of up to 20 clients. If you use one of our Professional solutions, you can ask our Sales and Support teams for assistance.
The AntiVir Server (Windows) customers are also notified directly in the product, through a message in the Overview of the Control Center (category “Notes”) or through a separate notification email, if email notifications are configured in the program. Avira will also inform affected customers through a separate email.
Note: The notification feature applies only to Avira AntiVir Server version 8 or newer. You are not notified about upgrades in older versions.
